Smart Physics: Quantum Physics

An online learning programme on Quantum Physics with orientation on pedagogy has been developed around 226 problems selected mainly from the textbooks Physics by Resnick, Halliday and Krane and Fundamentals of Physics by Halliday, Resnick and Walker. The course provides a braod based introduction to quntum physics, covering physics of hydrogen atom, hydrogen atom orbitals, angular momentum and and space quantization, spin angular momentum, molecules, quantum specific heat, Planck's blackbody radiation, photons and lasers, electron gas, semiconductors, nucleus, energy from the nucleus, elementary particles, and cosmology.

The best way to appreciate the power of physics concepts is to apply them in answering real life problems from science and engineering. Solution to each problem is an attempt to demonstrate the power of critical thinking and reasoning in learning physics.

Each problem with its solution can be accessed through index navigation as html file and as the PDF version of the document file.

The intended target groups for this resource are students and teachers of basic science interested in learning-teaching physics by applying concepts in answering problems. Links have been given to relevant materials, which other teachers have put on the web.

A nominal payment is being asked from the users so that expenses on the development of the material and for making it available through the internet could be sustained.
